I'm Alex! A full stack software engineer based in the United Kingdom; I currently contribute to TravelNest 🏝.
Before joining TravelNest I contributed to PensionBee 🐝 with particular interest in building for scalability, site reliability, automation and pattern-forming within a maturing fintech. Historically, I have also contributed to a number of hugely rewarding initiatives at Capital One 💰:
Operational and Exploratory Analytics in the Cloud: a large chunk of my time at Capital One was spent exploring how the Cloud could be better leveraged to provide data scientists with secure and reliable compute on-demand. In this role I had the pleasure of: introducing a ton of new tech such as Serverless and Hashicorp Vault; improving DevEx and CICD workflows; developing new test automation tooling and solving some interesting problems around container vulnerability management.
Graduate and Intern Tech Lead: I had the pleasure of onboarding two cohorts of Graduates and Interns through their first few months in a large enterprise. My role focused mainly on technical leadership on the Developer API Project - which saw interns and graduates working full stack across Capital One's tech estate and incubating new technologies for adoption across the business.

- Backend: Python/Flask/Django + PyTest/Behave
- DevOps: Terraform, Docker + any flavour of CI
